København Silhuetter
In Denmark, there is a tradition from around the 18th century for paper cutting with a technique where the paper is first folded so that a symmetrical pattern occurs when the work is finally unfolded again. But there are also examples of another technique and tradition that originates from the silhouette cut.

Michael Banifatov, visual artist, photographer: "In "Silhouettes" I show views of Copenhagen at sunset, when the interweaving of old and new traditions is reflected in the urban outlines. As if a fairy-tale urbanist is carving out the city with his fantasy scissors from the impenetrable darkness of medieval swamps, bathed in the northern sun".
